Read more →UFC 141 Lesnar vs Overeem takes place on December 30, 2011 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. This will be the first event since UFC 129 in April 2011 that is returning the 10pm E.T. pay-per-view start time. This is also one of the very few UFC pay-per-view events that will air on a Friday night instead of Saturday. The main event is a #1 contender bout for the UFC Heavyweight Championship. The winner of this fight will face the winner of the November 12th UFC on FOX heavyweight championship bout between Cain Valasquez and Junior Dos Santos.
Brock Lesnar makes his return at UFC 141 as he has not fought in the UFC since he lost the belt to Cain Valasquez on October 23rd, 2010. Lesnar recently went under the knife for the diverticulitis that has been plaguing him for the past couple of years. Finally Lesnar says he is healthy and said this about his post-surgery results, "I feel like a new man, I feel great, healthy, strong - I feel like I used to feel."
For Brock Lesnar this is wonderful news; for Alistair Overeem on the other hand, it could be a roadblock to his success within the UFC. Here is what Brock had to say about his surgery: "For two years I had to lie to myself, and lie to all of my fans. I had to get up every morning and say 'you feel good today', and I didn't. I had the surgery, it's out of my life, and I'm back. And that's a damn good feeling for me, and it's bad for everyone else."
Lesnar doesn't seem to have any personal issues with Alistair Overeem; he understands that this is a big fight for both of them. If Lesnar wins at UFC 141, he gets an opportunity to once again hold the title for the UFC heavyweight champion of the world. If Overeem is victorious at UFC 141, he proves his worth within the UFC and gets a shot at the heavyweight belt.
When asked how he felt about Alistair Overeem, Lesnar said the following: "I don't have a lot to say to Alistair Overeem. Here's a guy that's getting his chance to make a name in the UFC. And unfortunately for him, there's a gatekeeper that stands in his way, and that's Brock Lesnar. And I will prove on that night that I am, once again, and will always be, the baddest dude on the planet." Brock Lesnar is always a huge PPV draw and UFC 141 Tickets are sure to sell out.
The Strikeforce Heavyweight Champion Alistair "The Reem" Overeem also spoke recently about his fight against Brock Lesnar and appears to have a lot of confidence that he is going to finish the fight, and finish it early. This is what “the Reem” had to say about this match-up: "I'm very confident. It's going to be a knockout victory in the first round. He's not going to get out of the first round. It will not come to the second round. He's a strong guy, a very dangerous guy. But, I think I've got what it takes to stop him. And I got what it takes to stop him in the first round."
Alistair Overeem announced in September that he was separating from his Dutch fight team and management firm Golden Glory. Since then, Overeem has joined Randy Couture at Xtreme Couture. Overeem declined to offer any specifics as to why he decided to leave Golden Glory, but did make the following statement: “I don’t air my dirty laundry. I would appreciate the respect regarding my privacy to not disclose any further details on this matter,” wrote Overeem. “Again, I would like to thank team Golden Glory for all the years we worked together and wish them success for the future.” Alistair Overeem will make his debut in the Octagon at UFC 141 in Las Vegas
In addition to his Strikeforce heavyweight championship, Overeem is also the Dream interim heavyweight title holder and the 2010 k-1 World Grand Prix kickboxing champion. He has not lost a fight since 2007 and has a professional record of 35-11-0. In his last fight for Strikeforce, Overeem defeated Fabricio Werdum by unanimous decision. In K-1 he impressively defeated former UFC fighter Todd Duffee in just 19 seconds into the first round.
With Lesnar determined to make his comeback and Overeem with his eyes on the prize, this is sure to be a great fight! Don't miss the action at UFC 141 on Friday December 30th, 2011. Elite Sports Tours has your UFC 141 Tickets to see Brock Lesnar vs Alistair Overeem.
