One of the best features of golf in Raleigh is that they have three Division I universities within distance who are each home to their own tremendous golf courses that are actually available to the public. These courses include: Lonnie Poole Golf Course at NC State University, which can be played anywhere from 4,869 yards all the way up to 7,358. UNC Finley Golf Course, the course features sets of tees making it playable for all skill levels. Finally, Duke University Golf Club is considered one of the premier college courses in the entire country.

Outside of the world class university courses the Raleigh area also features some tremendous public golf courses that are amongst the nicest in America. These courses start off with: Heritage Golf Club, five sets of tees that are also paired with some spectacular holes including the double dogleg 14th and the 18th which features trees, a lake and a dogleg. Tobacco Road Golf Course is a little further away from downtown Raleigh though it is well worth the commute, the course is a ranked #55 on Golf Digest’s list of America’s 100 Greatest Public Courses.
