Yankee Stadium

Yankee Stadium is a ballpark located in The Bronx, New York City, NY and is the home of the New York Yankees of Major League Baseball (MLB). The $2.3 bullion stadium replaced the original Yankee Stadium in 2009 and incorporates replicas of some design elements from the old ball park. Although Yankee Stadium's construction began in August 2006, the project spanned many years and faced many controversies, including the high public cost and the loss of public parkland. The overall price tag makes the new Yankee Stadium the most expensive stadium ever built. It also is the home field for New York FC of Major League Soccer (MSL) and has hosted many other events including college football games, soccer matches, two outdoor NHL games, and concerts. The roof of the new facility features a replica of the frieze that was a trademark of the previous ballpark. In the original Yankee Stadium, a copper frieze originally lined the roof of the upper deck stands, but it was torn down during the 1974–75 renovations and replicated atop the wall beyond the bleachers. , which features the Yankees' retired numbers, as well as monuments and plaques dedicated to distinguished Yankees, has been moved from its location beyond the left field fences in the original Yankee Stadium to its new location beyond the center field fences at the new facility. The newly relocated Monument Park is now situated under the sports bar; black shades cover the monuments on the back wall during games to prevent interference with the vision of the batter.
