Universal Studios Hollywood is a film studio combined with a theme park within Los Angeles. The studio opened over 100 years ago while the theme park opened in 1964. It was originally created to provide visitors with tours of the Universal Studios Sets. Universal Studios Hollywood is one of the oldest film studios that is still in use today. The surrounding area of Universal studios has been developed over the years and has added two hotels, the Universal Hilton and the Sheraton Universal, along with the Universal CityWalk which includes plenty of shops, restaurants and a 7 story IMAX theatre.

Universal Studios Hollywood is broken up into two parts, the Upper Lot and Lower Lot which are connected to one and another via escalators. Combined the park consists of 9 attractions, including 2 roller coasters, 7 live shows and an outdoor play area. The Upper Lot is broken into the following themed areas: Universal Boulevard, Minion Way (Despicable Me movies), Springfield, U.S.A modelled after the Simpsons, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, Streets of the World as well as the Studio Tour which is one of the more popular rides at Universal Studios Hollywood as it takes you on a 45-60 minute tour of the land and the back-lot where actual movies are filmed.

The Lower Lot is the smaller of the two areas of the theme park, though you will still find rides and attractions like, Jurassic World: The Ride, Revenge of the Mummy: The Ride, Transformers: The Ride 3D and some live shows. Universal Studios Hollywood is one of the most visited theme parks in the United States as well as worldwide with over 9 million people visiting per year, the park is ranked 9th in North America and 15th in the world.
