How to get to and from SLC

Salt Lake City International Airport (SLC) is a civil-military airport located 6 miles west of Downtown Salt Lake City, Utah. SLC continually ranks high in terms of on-time departures/arrivals and fewest flight cancellations among major US airports, ranking first for on time departures and arrivals and first for percentage of cancellations as recently as 2017. 

 

Located only a 10 minute traffic-free drive from Downtown Salt Lake City, it is quite easy to get to and from SLC. If you are flying in for a Utah Jazz game be sure to give yourself some added time before tip-off, traffic around any major airport can be unpredictable and you don’t want to risk being late to the game! 

 

Below are your best available options for how to get to Downtown Salt Lake City from SLC so you can start your sports getaway!

  • Public Transit: The Utah Transit Authority (UTA) provides public transportation to and from SLC. To get to downtown Salt Lake take the TRAX/light rail Green Line which leaves the airport every 15 minutes on weekdays and every 20 minutes on weekends. SLC’s TRAX stop is at the south end of Terminal 1. UTA also provides a bus service at SLC with bus stops being located on the curb outside of the UTA Welcome Center at the south end of Terminal 1 and outside of Terminal 2 next to bag claim number 8. One way fare for the bus and train is only $2.50 USD taking about half an hour to get downtown.
  • Taxi: A number of cab companies service SLC, including Yellow Cab. Cabs can either be booked in advanced or taken in a first come, first serve method upon arriving at SLC. The maximum rate that a taxi can charge you from SLC to downtown Salt Lake City is $25 USD and being such a short ride, a cab is never a bad choice. Taxis can be found outside Door #7 in Terminal One and Door #11 in Terminal 2.
  • Sedan Service/Limo: Pre-arranged and on-demand private car and limousine services are available to pick-up from SLC, being available outside Door #7 in Terminal One and Door #11 in Terminal 2. Contact the shuttle provider of your choice to arrange transportation service to or from the airport to get an exact quote and your fare should always be communicated clearly and agreed upon before departure. Your price will vary based on your level of service. 
  • Rental Car: Be sure to ask your Elite Sports Tours representative to secure a rental car for you before your trip! SLC offers a number of different rental car providers, including Enterprise, Hertz and National. Their rental car counters are easy to access as well, being located on the ground floor of the parking garage, directly across from the terminal buildings. Cost of your rental car will vary depending on the length of your trip and your car selection.
  • Ride Sharing: Lyft and Uber both operate at SLC. Passenger pick up areas for are and are located in the middle traffic lanes outside of baggage claim in Terminals 1 and 2. The pick-up areas are clearly indicated by curbside signs. The cost of your ride will vary based on a number of variables so always double check pricing before confirming your pick up.
  • Airport Shuttles: Be sure to ask your Elite Sports Tours representative about your hotel’s shuttle service, if applicable. Pick-up times can be coordinated by communicating your flight information with your hotel via the direct-line hotel phone banks at the far end of baggage claim areas in both terminals. Hotel shuttles pick up from both terminals as well.
