Below are your best available options for how to get to downtown Winnipeg from YWG so you can start your sports getaway!

  • Public Transit: There are two Winnipeg Transit bus services that run to and from YWG and although it may not be the most time efficient method, taking 40 minutes, it is the most cost effective only running you $3.00 CAD. The bus terminal can be found at the south end of the airport. The two routes from YWG to downtown Winnipeg are as follows:
    • 15 Sargent/Mountain, airport to Inkster via downtown
    • 20 Academy/Watt, airport to Leighton via downtown

  • Taxi: Taking a cab from the airport to downtown Winnipeg may be your best bet in terms of convenience. Taxis from YWG are not a flat rate, they are priced by the meter, but this 20 minute drive should cost you around $16.00 CAD, depending on traffic of course. Only Unicity cabs run from YWG and they are available just outside Exit 3 of the terminal building. If you’re new to Winnipeg and want to take the scenic route downtown ask your driver to take you down Academy Road and Wellington Crescent. This way you will pass some of Winnipeg’s oldest and most elegant homes alongside the Assiniboine River.
  • Sedan Service/Limo: There are 22 limos that service YWG. You pay for the added luxury of riding in a limo in Winnipeg, with an average trip downtown from the YWG costing you $35.00 CAD for a sedan and $55.00 CAD in a stretch limo. Some are available without reservation and can be found outside Exit 3 of the terminal building.
  • Rental Car: Be sure to ask your Elite Sports Tours representative to secure a rental car for you before your trip! YWG offers four different car rental counters offering six different companies, including Enterprise, Budget and Avia. All locations can be found on the main level of the four-level parkade. Cost of your rental car will vary depending on the length of your trip and your car selection.
  • Ride Sharing: Three different ride-share companies service YWG. Uncommon ride share companies like TappCar, ReRyde and Uride picking up passengers up outside of the most eastern door on the Arrivals Level.
  • Airport Shuttles: Many hotels in downtown Winnipeg offer a complimentary shuttle service to and from YWG for their guests. Be sure to ask your Elite Sports Tours representative about your hotel’s shuttle service, if applicable. Pick-up times can be coordinated by communicating your flight information with your hotel.
